Is Vanity Insanity?

Hey Beauty B's!

I had a real thought today that I wanted to present to you. Is vanity insanity? Seriously think about it. Think about all the hours some guys spend in the gym pumping iron to get big or have that six pack, think about all the waxing people to to remove unwanted hair. Or here's a good one the things we do to lose weight, or to look young. So do you think vanity is insanity? Some of you may not like my answer and some of you may but I will break down my personal experience.

Vanity to me is partly insanity and partly a necessity. Vanity can cause people to do crazy things in order to be accepted. For example I am a gay male that when I first moved to New York from Virginia had a few extra pounds. Let's just say I started working in the beauty industry and gaining more confidence. Then I started seeing all these fabulous gay men I worked with and how skinny they were. So what's the first thing one does. You guessed it, I at barely anything some days or other days would take ex-lax......or worse sometimes. Here's the sad thing, as I got skinnier I was more accepted, I had men that wanted to date me, people that kept telling me how good I looked, and my confidence was through the roof. Let's face it Vanity then led me to insanity. I literally would do anything to stay thin. However on the flip side I have to say this.....vanity is a necessity. No matter who you are, you can say you don't care about someones looks but I know you do. We all do. We all judge whether we want to admit it or not. The thing is looking good does truly pay off in the world. Think about this are there any Victoria Secret models that do not look good? How many people in the beauty world look good yes even with the makeup, or think about this, a lot of times people say first impression make the most lasting impression. So do you think at a job interview if you look good and look the part of the company you are more likely to get the job than say someone who may not fully have a look that makes a lasting impression? I hate to say it but we have to all find the happy balance between the insanity and the vanity. My personal opinions is yes, it's wrong to judge someone based on looks but it's the facts of life. However remember this, the person may be beautiful but so ugly on the inside that no plastic surgery, makeup, or anything else can fix it. One more note and this is to all my gays........we all are shady at times but sometimes we need to learn that our words can truly hurt someone and we never know how much pain that person may truly be in. Trust me for three years I have been hiding behind Dior Mascara, Smashbox foundation, Marc Jacobs Eye Shadows, Lancome Skincare, and highlight and contours......but no one ever saw the true pain that was hidden beneath or maybe someone very important did.... So I leave you with this Beauty B's......Vanity is sanity and insanity but once you find the balance that's when the real fun begins!
