Let Yourself Go And Relax
Hey there Beauty B's!
So today I made a big change and decided to go #codeblue. Yep you guessed it, I changed my hair color and I am super happy I did. For the last few weeks I have been actually doing my hair colors myself but this time I could not wait any longer. So today I went to one of my hair stylists and got the hook up. We went vibrant blue and it's totally out of this world! Anyway, as I was going through the whole process of first having my hair bleached and sitting while the bleached worked, I realized something. The beauty shop still has that feeling of being a relaxing and social place. It's kinda a free zone where you can vent when you need to vent, and gossip with others, or share beauty tips, and tricks. However I have walked past many salons since leaving New York and realized one thing. People are totally missing out on the whole Beauty Salon experience and what it can really do for you. Today I walked in one person, and left feeling like a different one. It wasn't just the hair dye fumes, it was the fact that I had wonderful social interaction with my stylist and sure was able to hear others conversations and get the scoop, but it was relaxing. As I sat under the dryer and read my beauty magazine and sipped my Arnold Palmer, I literally was in heaven. I then started to think about one thing, why are so many people missing out on this. Sure I understand that the price of getting your hair done can be a little much however I go to an everyday salon that isn't overpriced. I think that more people would enjoy doing so and I think for those with anxiety and depression it might just be the boost you need. For some reason, vanity is not insanity, it's actually uplifting and can totally shift one's energy and mindset. So the next time you reach for that boxed hair dye, or think about going for a really drastic change maybe think about going to a salon where you can have a minute to have a consultation, relax, vent, gossip, and renew your look and your spirits. Think about this, no mess for you to stress over, no stress over keeping time, and literally it's time away from the house and away from your everyday stress. So let's bring back the fun salon culture! If you go to Washington Heights in New York on a Friday night you will see what I mean. Not only are there salons packed with ladies getting blow outs and new styles, but the barbershops are packed with men socializing and getting fresh razor cuts.
Well I am off to unwind and enjoy my me time,

Beauty school dropout,
No graduation day for you.
Beauty school dropout,
Missed your mid-terms and flunked shampoo.
Well at least you could have taken time,
To wash and clean your clothes up.
After spending all that dough,
To have the doctor fix your nose up.
