Pump Your Gas, Not Your Mascara!

Hey there Beauty B's!

First off I have to say Happy Memorial day! Beauty By Mike would like to say Thank You To All Who Have Served And Are Currently Serving All Around The World! Now I have to move on to today's topic because this has been driving me crazy for years and I think it's time for someone to really break it down and break this bad habit. Well I am sure by the title you have figured out today's topic and that is pumping your mascara! Today I am going to let you know why you need to stop this nasty habit and stop treating your mascara like you're churning butter. Does that image convince you already? If not check out below and maybe this will make you think before you pump again.

Stop, Don't Pump That Mascara

  1. First we have to get you to adjust how you are getting product onto the wand. When you want to pull the wand out gently wiggle or twist in a circular motion as you gently pull out of the tube. If you need more deposit the wand gently back in the tube and repeat steps. Don't forget to wipe excess product on the rim of the tube before applying so that way you get a better application.
  2. Got a mascara you love? Recently you started complaining that it's clumping and oh no flaking. Well have you been pumping the wand in and out to get more product onto the wand? Stop because you are pumping extra air into the tube and drying out your product. Stop churning butter, you are applying mascara Beauty B's!
  3. Uh oh......here comes pink eye! Did you know that pumping air into the tube could also be picking up bacteria particles that you are pumping right back into your mascara and it makes it the perfect place for bacteria to survive and thrive in.
  4. Lastly pumping can be overloading you wand with product so basically you are wasting mascara. It's like over pumping gas at the gas station and it getting all over your car and it's wasted gas you had to pay for.
Pro Tips:
  • When applying mascara a lash primer is you friend. My secret weapon is the Pur Cosmetics Fully Charged Lash Primer! (Great for all eyes, including sensitive, and gluten free)
  • When applying mascara bump your lashes and wiggle the wand through your lashes which will deposit product more evenly to your lashes.
  • Please save your eyes and dispose mascara after 3 months. Seriously, I know that some mascaras are pricey, but the price of protecting your eyes is much higher.
  • Lastly save your lashes. Look I have been there, a late night on the town you had a few Vodka Cranberries and boom you are home passing out of maybe you met a "friend". Sadly you probably didn't take off your mascara. Well sleeping in your mascara is drying out your lashes. If you want to keep those lashes happy, and healthy take off your mascara before you sleep!
So my Beauty B's.....pump your gas (unless you live in fabulous Jersey) instead of your mascara!

Gotta go watch old episodes of Dance Moms (my guilty pleasure....I love Miss Abby!)

Lift up your head, wash off your mascara
Here, take my Kleenex, wipe that lipstick away
Show me your face clean as the mornin'
I know things were bad but now they're okay
Suddenly, Seymour is standing beside you
You don't need no make-up don't have to pretend
Suddenly, Seymour is here to provide you
Sweet understandin', Seymour's your friend
Nobody ever treated me kindly
Daddy left early, Mama was poor
I'd meet a man and I'd follow him blindly
He'd snap his fingers me I'd say, "Sure"
